These expressions are made from only the best blue agave, harvested from the rich soil of the Los Altos de Jalisco region, and distilled with the purest spring water. Casa San Matías was founded in 1886 by Don Delfino González in Magdalena, a small town located west of Tequila, Jalisco. In the 1950s a new distillery was opened in Ojo de Agua, at altitudes above 6,000 feet. The fruitful grounds of Los Altos de Jalisco provide some of the purest spring water in the region. This allows the distillery to produce a wide variety of superior tasting tequilas, all from 100% blue agave. Today, the leadership of Casa San Matías is bestowed in Ms. Carmen Villarreal, the world’s only female distillery head, who leads her team in creating the best tequilas in the region which satisfy the most demanding consumers.
In 2006, Orgullo was introduced to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Casa San Matías. Orgullo is a sophisticated tequila that has been aged for 24 months in white oak barrels. Its color is golden amber with copper orange hues. Orgullo is recommended straight.
Tasting notes: Aged two years, this añejo tequila has flavors of green apple, burnt orange rind and almonds resulting in a long and pleasant finish.
